| History: |
It was 1996 when the pastoral staff of Bacolod Trinity Christian Church met together to discuss the pressing problem faced by the church today – the language and generational gap between the current and earlier generations within the Chinese church. Young people are having difficulty adjusting to the Chinese Worship. The result, an afternoon English Service was proposed to the Board of BTCC. But as the discussion progressed, a daughter church was decided instead of an English service – one with her own vision and identity.
After a series of meeting, one important detail was what name to name this church. Names were brought up until the Lord brought to mind the vision given to pastor Dave King, the current overseeing pastor of TCF, a year ago of a congregation gathering in Worship and the name Trinity Christian Fellowship. When this name was proposed, it was unanimously accepted, thus it became the name of the church.
A month of trial and laying of foundation was done, then finally, on the 14th of September, 1997, the first TCF Worship Service was launched at Mayfair Plaza with around 50 worshippers and some guests from the mother church (BTCC) who came to support the event.
In the later part of 2001, TCF faced its greatest trial that resulted to a drastic reduction in attendance. This happened after a continuous experience in influx of new worshippers months prior to the problem. It was later realized that the leadership has become more concerned with numbers or quantity, rather than quality of worshippers, thus neglect in the internal relationships and follow-up resulted to a number of worshippers moving out or turning away from the Lord. A move was made to transfer from Mayfair to the newly renovated auditorium of the mother church in Lacson St. on her 5th Anniversary on the 22nd of September the year after.
Prior to the celebration, the Lord began to bring restoration as well as fresh worshippers. The first youth camp was held that year also. It is here that the prayer of seeing at least 80% of the congregation ministering or serving the Lord was birthed.
The following years was devoted to training and equipping of worshippers as it was realized the constant transitioning would take place as a result of members immigrating abroad, or moving to other places for their continuing education or occupation. Just last year 2008, another major move was made when Trinity Christian Fellowship moved its worship location from BTCC Lacson to Trinity Christian School in Villa Angela. This move resulted to a more concentrated effort to evangelize the surrounding subdivision around the school location. 2009 was devoted as a year of restructuring and seeking God’s guidance and direction for TCF. It was also a year wherein the Lord brought people who share in the vision of TCF, as well as open doors and opportunities.
This year, 2010 marks the Year of Fulfilment and Acceleration. This was revealed to the church leadership during the year-end prayer and planning retreat last December 2009. As each month of the new year pass by, more and more, the Lord is confirming His word by His mighty works. We are excited with what the Lord will be doing in our midst.
